It’s been an unforgettable summer! I finally have enough time for my friends and family. I have given myself this time to reload my batteries so that I will feel re-energized in September. And here I am again with a new post for you all!
Before my holiday started, I participated in one of the most important fashion events in the Netherlands: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. It is a combination of fashion shows from upcoming talent, designers and brands. I had the opportunity to attend several shows, such as: Judith van Vliet & Chris van den Elzen, Monique Collignon Haute Couture, Monique Collignon Couture Light, Susana Bettencourt, Army of Me en Tailor & Elbaz. Each designer creates a unique atmosphere around his or her show. Of course everyone has their own preferences when it comes to designers and shows. Opinions concerning this are always divided. My absolute favorite shows were from Monique Collignon with her beautiful Haute Couture collection, and the fairytale collection and show from Tailor & Elbaz. The Dutch DJ Tiësto made a new special mix just for the Monique Collignon Haute Couture show from his new album “Club Life vol. 4 New York City.” The inspiration for this collection was minerals. What is special about this couture line is that Collignon is the first designer in the world to use fabrics from recycled PET bottles (coming from Waste2Wear) in her collection. Collignon wants to bring attention to the large (plastic) waste problem that we have. During the Tailor & Elbaz show the catwalk was transformed into a dreamy fairytale setting from Alice and Wonderland, with blades of grass, large flowers, mushrooms, rabbits and Queens of Hearts. Their fourth collection of this young label was called “Queen of Hearts.” Their collection was simple and sporty but feminine. It should not come as a surprise to you all that this was one of my favorite shows.
Below, you can see the collections from the designers of each show that I attended, along with my looks from these days. Surprisingly, I was able to choose what I wanted to wear quite quickly each day. I chose two comfortable jumpsuits and a summer dress. I am curious which of the three looks you all think is the nicest, and which collection and designer is of your taste.
